Kelly Rowland: “[Me & Beyonce] Don’t Hate Each Other” by Speeakz

Pretty sure all this talk of Bey and Kelly disliking each other started on some gossip blog, but Kelly felt the need to defend her friendship with her fellow DC-3 members saying “we don’t hate each other”. The reporter mentioned Beyonce releasing her new (unexpected) video just as Rowland dropped her new single – to which she replied “everyone’s putting stuff out, Ciara puts something out, GaGa puts something out”.

…Not buying this supposed beef to be honest. Some people are saying “they haven’t been seen together for months now” – erm, I don’t see some of my friends for weeks at a time – thank goodness we have something called – the phone! They might not be in the same place, but that’s not to say they’re not speaking? Really. But then, on the flipside, you never know what goes on behind closed doors, but for now – I remain blissfully optimistic lol.

Behind the Scenes: Kelly Rowland – “Commander” [VIDEO] by Speeakz

Rap-Up TV goes behind the scenes of Kelly Rowland’s “Commander” video where she discusses the concept behind the video and some of the looks she’s going for. Rowland’s new single, produced by Satan himself David Guetta is currently generating a lot of  buzz online with pretty much everyone reacting positively to it.

…I’m definitely happy that Kelly is getting the kudos she needs and while I was definitely one of the sceptic’s impressed with the new single, I still can’t get behind this euro-pop/dance sound she’s going for. I like the single, but would I ever buy it? Nope. Would I buy an album like it? Nope. Kelly sounds great on “Commander”, no doubt, but there’s absolutely no denying she sounds a billion times better on an R&B track. I pray someone does an R&B/Hip Hop remix of this track – now that would be fire.

Kelly Rowland Performs “When Loves Takes Over” Acoustic [VIDEO] by Speeakz

Hate this track, with a passion. It’s number 1 in the UK at the moment (the days of chart positions reflecting quality in music are long gone anyways). However, Kelly Rowland has a dope voice and so hearing her sing this acoustical was pretty nice. Still don’t like the song, but remain a fan of her voice.

Sidenote: Just been discussing this with my homie, do you think it’s a bit strange that Kelly Rowland has released some pretty decent R&B tunes but has failed to make much impact on the charts, but then gets on a dance track and reaches number 1? Food for thought.

Kelly Rowland appeared on This Morning yesterday (lol) for an interview and performance. I cannot stress how much I hate her new single with that DJ dude “When Love Takes Over”, but I really like Kelly and enjoy her interviews. Therefore, I post her stuff. Check the interview now and after the jump, if ya feel like it – check her performing the new single after the jump…

As I said, I really like her – she seems like a really lovely lady. But yes, she needs, needs, needs to get back to R&B/Pop. Her voice is too dope (and soulful) to be seeing this European dance crap.

So this is what you end up doing when your ex-band mate is Beyonce…

…I know, I know that was kinda harsh, I’m sorry. I actually think Kelly has a dope voice and think it’s pretty shitty that her solo career hasn’t taken off in the way her talents deserve – but as I say so many times – it’s all about having the right material. You can have the dopest voice in the world, but without the right tracks – you ain’t going far.

Kelly Rowland Dropped By Record Label [NEWS] by Speeakz

According to reports, former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland has been dropped be her record label, just some two months after firing long-time manager (and ‘adopted’ father) Mathew Knowles. News of the World are reporting that despite the fact that her first two solo albums sold more than four million copies, Columbia fear she is “no longer commercially viable” as an artist.

Wow. I mean, I can’t say I’m surprised by this at all. Kelly Rowland’s solo career hasn’t exactly been strong over the past few years (…or ever for that matter?). I can’t imagine how hard it is for someone to be as  talented as she is, but  yet always coming second to former band member and best friend Beyonce – and I mean that in every sense from record label attention, to sales, touring etc. It’s unfortunate but true that she will always play second fiddle to Bey. Sad fact. Also, is it purely coincidentally that my girl is dropped just two months after firing Poppa Knowles? Something don’t seem right there at all.

So, what’s next for Rowland? Who knows, in this recession I’m not entirely sure if record labels will be banging down the door to sign her. Personally, I think she should call her to bestie’s and hook up another DC-3 tour. Bring in those bucks while she can.

Oh and, what does this mean for Michelle Williams? Lord knows she ain’t “commericially viable”.
