I need a huge ‘LATE PASS’ sign hung over my neck right now. Can’t even front, I hadn’t checked this EP out until’ just the other night, despite it coming out in January. Eh, I can’t stay on top of everything, all the time! Anyways, the fact that we’re here is the most important thing, right?
For those who have, unlike me, remain woke on Amsterdam’s Full Crate & Mar and their latest EP Conversations with Her – you’ll know exactly why I’m posting this. For those who haven’t yet heard of them, or their music, or more specifically this EP – you’re in for a treat.
Conversations with Her is a 5 track deep EP, filled to the brim with beats infused with Soul and Jazz, but coated in that fresh Electronic-Hip Hop sound that we love. As the title suggests, the EP is all about conversations, we dudes, have with the opposite sex during a relationship. This is on some next grown folks bizness, not for the kiddies (although if you’re reading this and like what you hear, I won’t tell). This is that real music people, the kind we’re always bitchin’ don’t exists. From top to bottom, this is fresh. From the instrumentation, to the melodies, to the vocals, to the lyrical content – everything is just right. They capture ‘that moment’ perfectly – I’m so happy I found this EP!
Eric Roberson was so impressed with these guys and loved “She Was Fly” so much, he laid his own vocals to it – Oh.My.Daze. Full Crate & Mars included it in the EP, it’s track numero 5. Just listen!!!
“I Said” recently got the video treatment, which you should definitely check out – it’s so bloody good. Love it when a dope band, releases a great track with an awesome video, reaffirms (to me at least), how creative they really are. (via Moovmnt)
Cannot recommend this any more, take a listen via their bandcamp above and then buy via iTunes – it’s like £2.49!.
Peace, Love & Full Crate & Mars
Shouts to Tara for the education.
