If you listened to Erykah Badu’s interview with Gilles Peterson that we posted up a few days back, you would have heard this little jam by Edith Funker. Who is Edith Funker I hear you ask? Well, it’s a group consisting of Erykah Badu (vocals), ?uestlove (drums), James Poser (keys), Doyle Bramhall III (guiltar), Wendy & Lisa (rhythm and road), DJ Jazzy Jeff (turntables), Mike Elizondo (bass) and Mos Def (and according to their myspace, Nikka Costa too). Got that? Heh.

The good homie Soulsupreme passed me the track, which I presume is a rip of the radio show interview – either way, I thought I’d post it up because I know many of you would have slept on that (dope) 2 hour interview. And if that is the case, slap yo’ self – because you should a) be up on Gilles Peterson’s radio show by now and b) be down for the education that Badu is offering on there. Seriously, if you haven’t, I highly recommend you check it out – let it play in the background.

Anyways, “Don’t Forget The Hot Sauce” is real nice, sexy little funk tune. I love listening to it. Badu says we’ll be hearing more from Edith Funker in the future, I pray that happens – can only imagine what them guys have concocted.

…What you think??

Update: After the jump, check Erykah performing this track, then called “Annie Don’t Wear No Panties” at the VH1 Soul Showcase (which I just re-watched, so dope) –  woman gets down and out funky.

Peace, Love & Edith Funker
