“By the People: The Election of Barack Obama” is a fascinating, insightful and spine tingling documentary of the 2008  US Presidential election campaign. The film, uniquely shot along side the President, captures some of the most important moments of the campaign – both the highs and the lows. The election team, more so than the running candidate, are put centre stage. From campaign managers, to senior advisers, from script writers, to the volunteers (some as young as 9!) – this film gives them the chance to shine.

“By the People: The Election of Barack Obama” is brilliant. The fly-on-the-wall insight allows a real sense of what it was like for everyone during those months leading up to the results. As Brits, we watched and engaged from a far – understanding that this wasn’t our election or our politics – but also fully aware that the President of the United States of America can affect us massively on an international level. So to be able to relive this moment in history so close up and personal was great.

Highly recommended viewing.

Peace & Love

P.s Unsure if readers from outside of the UK can watch this on the BBC iPlayer.
